| For our final physics project, Andrew and Max will be studying the physics of car collisions. We will investigate the kinematics of a car crash, how crash testing is done, analyze crash test date and insurance data, learn how cars are built to keep occupants safe, and study how cars interact with each other in crashes, specifically small car vs. SUV crashes. There are many resources and databases available on the topic from the government, insurance companies, crash testing organizations, and safety experts. At the end of our studies, we will have a much better understanding on the physics of car crashes and will summarize our findings in our research paper. We will then devise experiments to demonstrate what we have learned for the fourth quarter. |
