Telepathy features in several of DWJ's works.

The point is often made that telepathy is not like-spoken-communication-only-with-thoughts. Both The Magicians of Caprona and Black Maria include characters who have trouble receiving telepathic communications because they're expecting something more like talking [a thematic relation to Christopher in The Lives of Christopher Chant struggling with witch-sight only because he doesn't know what to look for?]; and in Hexwood there is a pair of characters who, in the course of a long telepathic correspondence, meet in person several times without recognising each other (suggesting that their telepathic "voices" are different from their real voices).
