Tanaqui is a name which can be rendered in syllabic representation. Its simpler meaning is "sweetrush", for a particular rare sort of scented water plant which grew along the River of the lands which became historical Dalemark. Since the "Tan" particle can mean "Young" or "Younger", and "-aqui" seems to designate "sister", it can also mean "Younger Sister".
