Androids - machines made in the form of human beings - are not common in the works of Diana Wynne Jones, being a story device more suited to science fiction than fantasy. (Howl's Moving Castle contains examples of artificial humanoids created as servants by the Witch of the Waste and the wizard Suliman, but to call any of them androids would probably be stretching things too far.)
