[Home]Platonic Year

From A Tale of Time City, a Platonic Year, Dr. Wilander said, is "the time it takes for the stars to work their way back to the pattern from which they started." It appears to be almost equal to the length of human history; according to some calculations, a Platonic Year is two hundred and fifty-eight centuries. According to an ancient document, Faber John's polarities ensure that Time City will last a whole Platonic Year.

(It is presumably named after the philosopher Plato's theory that for everything in the world as we know it, there is an Ideal original of which the thing we encounter is merely an imperfect reflection.)
